A New Czar and GM. How Mangini will get fired.

'the fan'
Nov. 7th, 2009

This mess is going to play out in 2 ways. A 3rd scenario is possible, but it would lead me to going bonkers, doing something bonkersCOMPLETELY BONKERS.  But i believe one of the first two will unfold.
It was reported on ESPN Sunday NFL countdown, that Mike Holmgren  the walrus
is the most likely candidate to come to Cleveland. It's his if he wants it because Lerner cant get Accorsi to come on full time.  Accorsi is going to help Lerner out in some sort of Consigliere fashion.  This will lead to the hiring of Mike 'The Walrus' Holmgren. Then Holmgren will then hire a GM and then they will fire Mangini.  Lerner doesn't want this firing hanging on him UNLESS scenario 2 plays out.
The Walrus says 'HELL NO, im not going to Cleveland!'. Claiming the Browns are more depressing than the rains of Seattle.  And then im thinking Lerner MAY go to Mike Shanahan.  He cant get the right Czar to come in so he goes with a 'cant miss' coach in Shanahan.  However, Shanahan demands complete control of operations. So no new GM needed.  I believe Holmgren and Shanahan are the only 2 coaches in the world that i would trust to come in and do whatever they would like AND give them 3 seasons, no questions asked.  These coaches have pasts that speak for themselves.  And FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, you Cowher lovers (must be Steelers fans in the closet), he LAUGHS at the Browns and at the Fans. DO YOU NOT WATCH HIM ON TV? He ISNT coming. And personally, i dont want him!  He was the face of the Steelers for 15 years!!  He is a STEELER!
Scenario 3 will cause me to do something, im not sure what, but something crazy.  Im hoping at least a few people feel the same. Lerner cant get his Czar.  Lerner cant get his coach.  Lerner isnt going to sell. His ego is to big and there is to much cash coming in.  Lerner allows Mangini to select another GM (or pretends to hire one when we all know its just another beard).  This is what i can not accept. Ive learned that most fans are to lazy to actually DO something, so im hoping the ones that do care enough and the ones that agree that this is just another losing situation, take action also.  I have a very good idea that i think the "fans" will actually grab onto.... thats if scenario 3 plays out.  -Good Day

More hate mail and perhaps some back peddling.

'the fan'
Nov. 2nd 2009

So i have received some more hate mail, of course. There are always going to be haters.  And once again, the guy did not reveal his name.  Just sent belligerent emails calling names.  I tried to look him up and only found a online dating profile for him. So i decided maybe the lack of love in his life was making him miserable and decided to cut him some slack.

I have received some positive feed back from some people, more of the mature type, talking about the 'tone' of the website and the actual outcomes.  As a mature and rational adult, i have to say i might be back peddling in my stance of wanting Lerner to sell.  The second option that i have mentioned before is probably overall the best option.  Lerner doesnt sell, but this time he keeps his promise of hiring someone who knows what the heck they are doing and he stays out of it.

He has proven that he is not making the proper choices for the Browns, but i also think he truly does care.  Does he care more about his soccer team?  I dont care. I just want a respectable Browns team.  How it comes about, is not (totally) important to me.  JUST DO IT.

Would also like to note that as much as i LOVE Bernie.  He is not the answer to running the entire Browns organization.  He was hired as a Good Will Ambassador im assuming.  One we will love until we die (he knew this and played it) and love to have around.  But to run the Browns from the very top? No way.

What we need is a powerhouse.  Someone who can get things done.  Someone who has proven they can get things done.  Maybe Lerner selling is the only option.  Maybe behind the scenes he is some sort of controlling nut, like Jerry Jones or Al Davis.  But i do not think this to be the case.  Not yet at least.  He can make things right by doing what he said in the past, by putting someone with some brass in charge. Our recruiting is going to suffer tremendously after this year unless we do so.  Think about it.  Listen to Jamal.

Im not abandoning the 'sell' position, but i am open to compromise. Until we are blue in the face, we keep stating we just want to win. To be respected and feared again in the NFL!

It has rubbed me the wrong way that Lerner is meeting with 2 guys. The 2 that setup the Protest. THATS IT!?  2?  After all, they have just come around while we have been working for the last month to be heard.  But the ONLY reason that Lerner is meeting with them is because they garnered national media.  He is trying to put out a fire as soon as he can for his image.  But its a total disrespect to the rest of us.  The website, the petition, the people at home. Dont allow 2 guys to speak for you.
SPEAK FOR YOURSELF and you can do that here! ~ Good day.

Ahhh, my first piece of Hate Mail. I have arrived!

'the fan'
Oct. 26th  2009

Yesterday, i received my first piece of Hate Mail.  AWESOME. From a guy, well i assume it was a guy, but im starting to think it might have been a child. Or worse yet, a Man-Child. We will call him "Ted".  Ted tells me my website is a scam and that i'm an idiot.  I can only assumehe is referring to the donations i was asking for.  Which for the record, i have received ZERO dollars. Thanks Fans!  More on this later.  I have received help fine tuning the site and hosting the site, etc.  People have offered to help, but vanished quickly afterwards. Thanks Fans! There have been 2 people that have been with me and helping since day one. TWO.  MacAttack and Tabasco13.  Shout out guys. Thanks!  I have put in hours.  TONS of hours.  If anyone was around when the site was originally constructed, you know that i worked all night, literally ALL night into the next morning after the Ravens embarrassment. It was OBVIOUS we didn't have a team that was even remotely competitive or even watchable.  I spent almost 20 hours straight making the site and getting it functional.  This website was not built for me;  Its for us. Its for Cleveland. Its for Ohio. Its for any Browns fan of any type anywhere in the world.  I think my passion for the Browns is obvious.  I did not make this website to be profitable.  I made this website so i could watch football on Sundays and be F'ing proud to be a Browns Fan!

After exchanging emails with "Ted" a few times asking for an explanation, he refused. Just calling me names like, well, a little boy would.  I was pissed, then i laughed it off, then i was pissed again.  I thought maybe it was a troll from out of town. Maybe a Packer or a Steeler. Worse yet, an Ohioan who is a poser front running Steelers fun, (and on Saturdays, they play Ohio State fan, well because they front run). Nope, I looked him up and sure enough. He is a Clevelander!

We have had thousands and thousands of people visit the site since i created it. What they call 'unique visitors', not just the same 50 coming multiple times.  After our newest embarrassment yesterday with the Packers, we had 500 people on the site at once!!  I thought THIS IS!  This is the day we kick into high gear. The day the fans step it up to make a change!  I decide to reopen my donation idea, but to no avail.  These passionate fans cant even be bothered to sign up and show support. Even if you are AGAINST selling the team, which i actually and COMPLETELY understand, you can show support of wanting a change. Hell, there is an alternative solution to Lerner selling the team.  He hires someone who knows what the hell they are doing.  A Parcells type.  If you think for a second "well, turning a team around takes time", you would be partially right but mostly wrong.
Want proof? Dolphins, Falcons, and the Saints.

Lets start with the Saints.  Its easy to forget. Heck we do it yearly. Look at how lopsided the last few Super Bowls have been. The last few years its been marred by HORRIBLE refereeing directly impacting the results.  We may talk about it for a day and its history.  But come the new year, we dont care, its football time! Hell Im even guilty!  But i dont forget.  (Dont get my started on overtime or the BC$)  The Saints were a horrible team that was hit by one of the worst, (if not the worst) hurricane ever to hit 'US'.  The government left them stranded. The owner tried to sell the team. They were without their home field to play their home games. They started the year on the road against the New York Giants and played one of the most inspiring games ever to be played. Either you saw it or you didnt, look it up, but it was absolutely an amazing game to watch. It might sound silly, but as a football fan, there was a sense of honor watching it.  It was that special to a lot of people. That day, the Saints turned it all around.  Look at them now a few years later. Arguably the best team in the NFL.  Now onto the Dolphins.

Miami was horrible a couple of years ago.  Made the mistake of hiring another high profile college coach that drove the franchise into the ground, Ala Butch. In comes Parcells and in the FIRST YEAR, one of the worst teams in the league is now a respectable team, not because Parcells is there, but because they are winning, DUE to Parcells being there.   I remember strongly, thinking to myself, WOW, The Dolphins and the Falcons are going to be bad for a very very long time.  They were royally screwed.  Then the Falcons.

The Falcons hired yet ANOTHER high profile college coach, Bobby Petrino. ( see a pattern? dont forget the Redskings!)  This guy came in, messed up the team so bad, he couldn't bare the stress, told his team he would NEVER quit on them and then the next day HE QUIT!  That team was way way in the tank. And then pile on the Vick ordeal.  I really thought that the Falcons would be the worst team for years to come after that.  Completely wrong.  The Falcons did it right. They were embarrassed and they were taking no chances. They hired the right people to come in and do what was needed.  Drafted well, brought in a young but talented RB in Michael 'The Burner' Turner. (I was praying we would snatch him from the Chargers the year before he even hit FA.   He was the best back up in the NFL and for the most a hidden gem).  They were immediately respectable again, not by their hires, but by their performance on the field and a record to show for it.

So why have the Browns faltered over and over again?  Its simple. We haven't had the right regime yet.  Starting at the very top.  Do you think, totally hypothetically speaking, that if the Big Tuna was in charge people would be laughing at us right now? Not one chance.  Though i state it as opinion, i believe to be a factual.  Seemingly Lerner learned his lesson last go 'round.  Said he would do it right this time.  He lied. He screwed up even worse hiring an unwanted off cast.  Why did the Jets fire Mangini?  We knew why and now we know why, by watching it every sunday.  Whats sad is, i believe Mangini brings the right attitude for us Clevelanders.  A Hard blue collar mentality.  It is suited PERFECTLY.....for the '60's or 70's. Fact is, That's not how football works anymore. I wish it was. It would be great not to have to deal with the divas.  There were no teams working like that 10 years ago, there are a few now however.  Pats, Giants, and the Niners.  Its possible it turns around.  Like what went down with the Giants.  This is exactly how it happened there.  The players ABSOLUTELY hated Coughlin. He fined them 2 grand for being 30 seconds late to meetings.  He fined them 3 grand for their socks being to high. The fans wanted him gone the players wanted him gone, but they bought into the system and now look.  The difference being, Coughlin is a good coach and was able to extract wins out of his team while they hated him.  This is not the same for Mangini.  He was fired and the players know this. They also know he wasn't liked at his previous stop.  They are playing for their own dignity and perhaps some for new contracts, not for their coach.  Do you think Shawn Rogers cares who the coach is?  A couple of years ago, maybe, but right now, he is playing hard because he cares.  He has a strong desire that you can see weekly.  Who knows how long that holds up, but between him and Cribbs, they are the essence of what this team needs to be through out. Toss in the fisherman there, JT while you're at it.

I was appalled last year. For the first time ever i wasnt sure where i stood when it came to being a Browns fan. Our starting QB was injured while playing a game in Cleveland, while laying on the field, the Browns 'fans' cheered.  Those people need to look internally.  Still makes me sick to this day.  If you wanted to cheer and injury, you should have tossed a snowball to Romeos face.  Not to any one player.  I can only assume that this is some type of next generation fan.  God i hope not.  The same fans that gave Chad 'Im not Hispanic' Johnson a big love hug when he jumped into the end zone after scoring on us.  I just about crapped my pants watching that on tv. I replayed it 20 times, looking for someone to do SOMETHING to represent North Side!!

More on our fan base.. I asked the owner of the petition if he would like to team up and become one stronger force.  I like to think of it as 'team work'.  He said he would think about it, but decided not to.  Wanted to go solo i guess. Dont get me wrong. I signed the petition, forwarded it around, and still put it on the website.  But i guess maybe he plays like the Browns, no team work needed.

No one person is going to be heard.  We need to unite and be aggressive!

The ONLY reason i asked for a sponsor or donations was i could make shirts, make bumper stickers, get people to make signs for the dog pound, do things like the Redskins fans did when they bought a billboard!  NO ONE was interested.  So i removed the donation idea, dont want 'FANS' to think im scamming them as 'Ted' would put it.  I thought a very good idea was the Reverse clothes drive. Very unique. Very practical. Spend 3 or 4 bucks and send something back, ANYTHING. Spend 44 cents and send a note!   NO ONE has been interested. It would have brought some attention towards the cause. Have you ever heard of such a thing??  Me either!  Neither has anyone else! Genius!

Everyone wants to sit back and argue over the starting Quarter Back situation.  Listen up people! Both Young and Old!!  It OBVIOUSLY doesn't matter who the hell QB's this team.  Do you not see that their is no player to blame.  There is one person to blame. One person to be pissed at.  RANDY LERNER.   PRO OR ANTI  SELL   -  HE COULD HAVE AT LEAST KEPT HIS WORD AND HIRED SOMEONE WHO KNEW WHAT THE HELL THEY WERE DOING!  HE DIDNT!  HE NEEDS TO GO SO WE CAN GET BACK TO THE GOOD OLE DAYS!!

I DO NOT mean to alienate any fan or member.  I could shutter' down and give up, but i think you can tell i care to much to do that. That's what they would want! I want us to unite. I am trying to point out how we can achieve a goal.  How to get a team worth watching on Sundays.  I am open to suggestions. I ENCOURAGE ANYONE who has an idea to email me.  WE NEED TO BRING THE HEAT AND WE NEED EVERYONE TO BRING IT TOGETHER!!  ~Good Day.   (this will be proof read later :))

Welcome Back Bernie?

'the fan'
October 20th, 2009browns legend

I cant but think we might be TOTALLY responsible for the hiring of Kosar. Not we  as in Sellthebrowns.com but we  as in the Loyal Brown's Fans. We started a movement. We started this website. We started a petition.  Word has gotten out.
If they are talking about us in England, where Lerners Aston Villa's are actually winning,
then its pretty obvious we have made our feelings known.

Never once did i expect Lerner to actually cave because of a single website or even a petition.Even if every person in Cleveland signed that petition.  Think about Lerner and his current employment status for a second. He runs a company that is heavily based in credit and we all know anything in THAT arena, pun, has tanked. Are the Browns his biggest source of reliable income?  While that might not even be close to true, its is possible.  I do agree with Tobasco13 that Mangini is his last coach, unless he were to hire someone HUGE, Parcells type, and then vanish to collect his funds.

Happy fans = money.  Enter Kosar.   The Bandaide?
He is here for one reason.  To patch up a soar spot with the fans.
Is Kosar here for the money? Perhaps. His financial issues have been aired out in a very unfortunate public manner.
I think Kosar's intentions are not related to why Lerner has him here.  Lerner who laid off a dozen people before the season started, is now spending money on having Kosar present.  He is already in the forefront of the media! Check out any recent Browns article. While its nice to have Kosar around of course, he's a Browns Legend, it still doesn't fix our Football team.
I had the chance to meet Bernie this coming weekend and passed.  Im not big on famous people. I am respectful and appreciative, but i had no desire to spend money to meet another person.  Now i wish i would have paid up in order to have my moment with the front office.
In the words of another legend, Paul Harvey, 'Gooood Day'.

Game comments and stats:
4th Quarter  14-27

Browns start with the ball, hopefully the OL gets their shit together.
Another Lewis drop. 5 total today.
I dont know why, but Cribbs owns Shittsburgh.
Next time we play in Cleveland, he needs to be in on offense every snap.
Bad thing is, with DA being Streaky you allow him to get cold with WildCat. VERY VERY BAD.
Im thinking screens and gimmick plays for Cribbs.
Not sure if that hang time was ok with the announcer or not. check back later.
Not good, D.Jackson is hurt. We are out 2 of our best LB's.
I think we have 0 points on 4 turn overs from Shittsburgh.  No way to win.
The Defense is fed up and have started to give up.
Can blame them much. They produce turn overs and our offense does NOTHING.
How much more can you ask for?
20 yard passes are like shooting fish in a barrel right now for Booger.
Ward with 159 yards ...so far.  Ben runs into a sack by McDonald.
Another sack, but it took a long long time to get him. He held the ball forever.
FG by Reed.  No more kicking to Cribbs.  Browns ball!
Not to state the obvious, but the browns need a quick TD here or its a wrap...again.
I remember where i was and what i was doing the last time we beat the steelers.
I was at my exgirlfriends house.  In her bed actually, watching.
SHE IS NOW MARRIED WITH CHILDREN...
AND THAT GUY IS NOT ME!  THATS HOW DAMN LONG ITS BEEN.
Estandi?  Wow.
ANOTHER MASS DROP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  NOT DA'S FAULT
Its 3rd and 15 and DA has NO time.
He tries to make something happen and its picked off.  He should have taken the sack
so people wont try to blame his ass.
If the D didnt give up last drive, the certainly have this one.  This game is over folks!!
They are saying the Browns should have drafted Ben.
Ben wouldnt still be in the NFL if that was the case. So he should feel lucky.
Im wrapping this up!
Same story!  DA has no time, no WR's and no run game.
Its the opposite in Shittsburgh.  All day with great WR's. Boogers rating is 110.
We couldnt run of course.  They didnt run a muck on us at least.
We couldnt rush the passer. Steelers got the breaks.
The phantom call and the fact that we got 4 turn overs and did nothing.
always next week! until then! SELL THE BROWNS!

3rd Quarter 14-24
The beginning of the 3rd and Mass catches a deep ball from DA.
I was beginning to think Edwards shared his secrets on ball dropping with 11 before he left.
Hopefully Josh doesnt get to throw again.
TOUCHDOWN!  DA TO Vickers.  Hmmm, Vickers with the hands on the team huh?
Tie game if it wasnt for the Gift from the Refs on that phantom first down.
Even if we lose by 3, the NFL will say 'O Well' and nothing will be done of course.

Booger with all day hits Ward again.  Ward has almost 100 yards on 2 catches. 120y total.
Did anyone see McDonald stand there during that reverse WATCHING his teammate tackle.
WOW.  Didnt even bother.  Embarrassing.
2yr rush td for Shittsburg, Mendenhall.
Browns Ball. Browns Punt (3 n out).
Get this idiot to shut up about hang time. Hes not happy with Zas! haha

Allllllllll day for Booger.  Cowher was making fun of the Browns at hafltime about it.
If we had a pass rush we could be in this game*. (*so far) Man, another chance to INT.
FINALLY! INT!  i thought we were going to get a late hit on Booger. Its the Steelers after all.
We need to capitalize!!
1st- Run, thud. 2nd- Thomas Hold.  2nd- No Time, DA almost killed. 3rd- NO TIME DA FUMBLE.
DA NEEDS HELP! No QB could work in this muck. No time and  no WR's.
Shittsburgh's Parker fumbles it back!!  CAPITALIZE DAMN IT!

Oh my, when they run the wildcat, the entire left side is exposed. they dont see it.
Looks like Royal is Hurt.
DA IS GETTING KILLED. He has NO time.  If he makes it through the game, ill be shocked.
DA gets hit again, he might be dead. He fumbled.
STEELERS JUST FUMBLED AGAIN!!  WOW, 5 FUMBLES IN THE LAST FEW MINUTES!

BROWNS BALL TO START THE 4TH. IM NOT GOING TO SAY IT.... BUT WE NEED TO!
Bad thing is, the Browns keep losing field with these fumbles.

HALFTIME  - Game Stats Here
Browns have 71 yards   --drops drops drops
Steelers with 289 yards

2nd Quarter 7-17   (at halftime)
WOW.  We stop them on 4th and they refs give
them the 1st down? It clearly showed they were short, but
hey, its the Steelers.  Just like the SuperBowl last year.
Its amazing and even more that we keep on watching.

Josh goes the distance. 98 yards! Our only offense...AGAIN
Josh was stopped by the punter the first time, but no one could this time.
These announcer are so funny, last week was the worst i ever heard, EVER.
Calling out the wrong names, even the WRONG TEAMS!
This week its just funny. Complaining we held during Cribbs return!
There is a HOLD on every play..PERIOD.
And then they replay it ..NOTHING.  Just running his mouth.
Cant help but think the production will drop once Cribbs is paid. You see it a lot.
He's playing like hes trying to win a million, (or 20).  Once he wins, then what?

The pressure on Booger has vanished. Absolutely NONE.
Even with 2 of their OL shaken up in the first quarter.
Heath Miller has been WIDE OPEN all day.
So far they have no answer for him.
Our Run D seems to be doing a lot better,
but  i think they could have been better all year if they
werent on the field so much. Specially the first half of games.
Its the 2nd halves so far that has fallen apart.
I still think we need that killer safety :))

So they have gone to the pass to attack, quite easily.
Our secondary is showing nothing.
Booger was 5 of 5 on the 1st scoring drive, 90 yards!
Does Wimbley have the PigFlu? Hes sick and they made him leave?

Our run offense against Shittsburg has been AWFUL.
More dropped passes. 4 dropped and Robiskie catches 1 but blows it.
People give DA guff because he throws the ball to hard.
The dumbest thing i have EVER heard, however, they just showed
an update of the Vikings and #4 GUNNING a ball as hard as he could about 6 yards
and ....IT WASNT DROPPED.  Elway kicked our ass for years throwing to hard.
I have no idea what the deal is with DA and these batted balls.
I have no idea why or how to fix that.  Its sort of weird.
Never seen anything like it even from a short QB. Not even Flutie!

No respect.  They have gone for it twice on 4th. First time they drew a flag and punted.
2nd time they dont make it and they gave it to them anyway.
We have also dropped 2 INT's
Nice make up call!! Phantom 1st down so they wave off the TD. Still cost us 3.
One final note.  We are doing pretty well with penalties this year.
Not so much with our reviews.

1st Quarter 0-0
Offense:
3 first down passes dropped.
(Stuckey has dropped every pass his way
this and last week)
DA fan or not, im sick of him getting a bad
wrap at the HANDS of our WR's.
NOTHING in the run game, but the WildCat.
They have ran it about 10 times with pretty good success.
EXCEPT Cribbs just threw an INT in his first pass.
Its clear Mangini is doing whatever he can
to confuse and surprise Shittsburg.
Almost as if he knows he would have the entire city
behind him for the season if he beats Shittsburg in Shittsburg.
And he would be right probably.

1st Quarter D
Looking pretty good actually.
The pressure on Booger is either very
STRONG or very WEAK.
Run D looks a lot better than the Pass D so far.
Alex Hall picked up a fumbled snap by Booger.

Pitts left tackle went out of the game.  Then another OL.
Polamalu too.

Not Chuck Berry... ERIC BERRY!

We are in the AFC-North.  There is one thing i think of when i think of the AFCN:  DEFENSE!
Steelers and the Ravens perennially have top ranked D's and they have the Super Bowl rings to prove it. Just look at the last 8 years.  3 AFCN Rings!  WOWThe Steelers DID NOT WIN their SB's with Ben.  He has NO SB MVPs after 2 rings.
Was it Trent Dilfer for the Ravens?  HaaNo. We know that personally. It was clearly Defense.  With the Grab of Rogers last year set aside, we have NO ONE that scares anyone on our Defense.  Let me throw 2 names 'atcha:
Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed.
Arguably the best players on their teams. You have to plan your game around them.
Both BigTime play making safeties.  The Bucs SB safety of '03, Dexter Jackson, was the MVP.
The Giants safeties had huge games in '08.  Little Big Man Bob Sanders for the Colts in '07, changed the
way the ENTIRE Colts D played that season.

Enter Eric Berry.  A monster in the Backfield at Tennessee.
I havent gotten the chance to see him play a lot so far this year, but what i saw last year
and this year, he is going to be good! No...GREAT!  And i think Cleveland Defense could use
someone lighting shit up around here!! Do a little digging on the guy.
My early 2 cents about the 2010 draft.

Sundays Game - Edwards vs Anderson

'the fan'
Sunday, Oct 4th, 2009

I have an unhealthy love for football.
This goes beyond my love of the Browns.
I love NFL football, but college... Oooh i LOVE some college football.
If there is a D1 game on tv, i will sit through it...all. Even some D2!
No matter the schools, no matter the scores.
I claim that college football is more of a religion than a sport to some of us.
I sit through national signing days, combines, and drafts, not missing a selection.
This last year i twittered every single draft selection for people who couldn't watch. Sick huh?!
I sit through ENTIRE preseason games, that aren't even the Browns.
Watching the guys that played their guts out in college do everything they can to make an NFL squad.

A few years ago before the college season started,
there was common phrase being tossed around the NFL.
The Brady-Bowl.  Referring to which one of the pathetic teams
in the NFL would get the chance to pick the sure thing - Brady Quinn.
Needless to say its all history.  The college season played out and Brady fell to the Browns,
who traded to get back into the first round to select him at 22.

Obviously most teams try their best to sit a rookie for a year and let him learn
the new system and adjust to the speed of the game, with intentions of having him take over the next year.
The Browns got that chance, sitting Quinn while DA ran amuck on opposing teams defenses.
Sending both DA and Edwards to ProBowls.

As we all know, the next season things went awry.
Defenses had tape on the offense and were ready for the Browns O.
There were injuries and most importantly 'the drops' of Edwards.
Its on record that he lead the NFL with 16 dropped balls.
I watched every game, every snap.  We all know it was WELL over 20. Over 25.
Towards the last part of the season, he was dropping almost half of the balls thrown his way.
He started to jump in the air to catch ones thrown to his chest just in order to body catch.
He dropped several touchdowns; the chemistry and trust that sent 2 players
to the ProBowl the previous year was gone.  Without a deep threat down the field for Anderson's arm,
he is not much of a threat at all.  That didn't keep him from trying because that is the type of QB he is.
There is TONS difference watching Anderson on a bad day than watching dump off football we have seen
from Couch and Quinn.  This is the reason, even on a bum ankle, how Jamal still got his 1000 yards last year.

I stated in the forum and on Cleveland.com that i wouldn't be surprised if we won today.
I didn't say we would, but i wouldn't be shocked if we did.  We almost pulled it off.  How?
Exactly as i said it would happen and people called me crazy.
Opposing teams HAVE to respect DA's arm.
This keeps them from loading the box like they do against BQ.
YES!  BQ has the arm strength but he does not as of yet, have that mentality.
Harrison ran his ASS OFF today because of it.  They cant load the box.
I sincerely believe that if Edwards was the same last year as we had the year before,
Brady Quinn wouldn't be on the team. Traded. DA would be the hands down starter.  Edwards dropped AT LEAST 4 TD's and numerous 1st downs to kill drives.
DA cant have drops.  He is a 55% tosser.  He makes his own mistakes.
We could have won an additional few games last year. I hate to blame one person, it takes a team, but there is no doubt that Edwards drops last year KILLED the Browns. He took DA down with him.
Here comes Quinn to the rescue.  I AM NOT A QUINN HATER!
I was wanting him to succeed just as much as everyone else.  After all, we did take him in the first round
and im SICK of our first round duds. Its the obvious reason we are the Browns that we are.
Quinn does nothing special what so ever. Not ONE single special drive.
He looked pretty much the same starting this year.
Dumping off on every attempt.  Lets face it. He should be better than he is at this point.
The point could be made that the RIDICULOUS preseason management of the QBs by Mangini is at fault,
the same can be said about the lose today for DA.  I personally think that if DA is given the chance, he will get better and quit making SOME of the bone head mistakes he makes. Not all but some and some could elevate him to the next level. Not a Manning or Brady, but good!  We all wanted Quinn to come in and be the hero. It just hasnt happened. As for now, id argue that DA, when on his game, is a top 8 QB in the league.  He has to have time to wind up that big arm of his and he has to have a threat down field.
Without that, you have a bottom tier QB.  Isnt this the same for a Peyton or Tom Brady?
Proof is in the pudding. DA 2007  vs DA 2008.  DA had his time and deep threat in '07 and neither of those in '08.  Today they gave him the time he needed and his stats show it.  So does Harrison's. One of the most legit stats i have seen in a while - Harrison earned those yards today.  They were not padded like they often are.  (like a 110 yard day with one rush of 80 yards off the top and the rest in 26 attempts.)

The Defense looked like a new group of guys out there.
Maybe because they werent on the field the entire game with the offenses 3 and outs.
Another DA check mark.

You can look at this 2 ways.
Win now (or at least watch a profession team take the field) and let DA do his thing and we can run the ball. Or lose embarrassingly and let Quinn get his reps so he can get better for the future. IF HE DOES.
We waited for Couch to quit dumping.
DA has been to the ProBowl and has shown he can play in the league.
Can he win a SuperBowl?  I never really thought he could.  But i think with a great defense and he gets a couple years to perfect his game at the Pro level.  I could see it happen. (IE: Roethlisbooger)
With the Browns?  Now that's a different story.
I dream of a Browns with a top 10 defense and a Braylon Edwards who catches the ball.

There will be a lot of part time fans that watched the game today and will be happy with the
effort that was given.
I thought the effort was there this week, but its a temporary bandage for a bigger problem.
What happens next week?  and the week after that?  we ARE 0-4.

I want to thank everyone for visiting the site.  Its been great!  They are spreading the word in England now!
I truly do believe that Lerner (win or lose) is one of the worse owners in the NFL
and not a true NFL fan.  Let alone a BROWNS fan.  He took over for his father.
Will we make a difference?  Who knows. But we can say we tried and in the mean time
id like to gather the biggest most passionate group of die hard Browns fans on the internet!
I want this to be a place where people can come and participate!
I highly encourage anyone who wants to be heard to email me.  Send me your articles or write ups.
Post comments in the forums!  With or without Lerner, we are here to stay!
We are the Browns Backers.  Browns are an original Franchise with TONS of history.
We don't demand perfection, we are demanding that OUR Browns be a respectable competitive team.
